Hearth & Grain
For Hearth & Grain
Goal
Build a set of stills that could live on a sack, in a chef catalog, and on a gallery wall without changing the light.
Process
Hearth & Grain mills for chefs. The photography they had was warm, rustic, and interchangeable with anyone else selling flour.
We shot in studio with north light and one surface. Flour, grain, and finished loaves as objects with weight — no steam, no rustic linen tricks, no hands entering from off-frame. Color was timed to the sack, not to a mood called “artisan.”
The frame is quiet on purpose. Product photography for a serious mill should feel like a specification, not an advertisement. We left room in the set so the same pictures could crop for a box, a page, and a site without being reshot.
Outcome
The set replaced their packaging photography and became the visual system for a trade campaign the following spring.
